Blackpool Collegiate School for Girls
Old School Building 1933 - 1971

The Beech Avenue Girls' Collegiate School

This photograph whilst not of wonderful quality may bring back happy memories.

The name 'Grammar' was never used about the original Collegiate School, called by Miss Dunn after the North London Collegiate School, a pioneer in the education of girls.
note submitted by Dr Wilkinson

The Blackpool Girls Secondary School, Beech Avenue, was occupied in 1925, although the neo-classical building was only officially opened on 23rd October 1928. From 1933 it was the Collegiate School for Girls until it merged with the boy's grammar school and moved to Highfurlong in 1971.
It later became part of Tyldesley High School and was demolished in 1987 for flats.
