| 25.03.01 | Staff Member John Noble:- I am the Welsh John Noble who taught Economics and History at B.G.S. between 1967 and 1971 and I reffed Rugby and umpired cricket. I remembered Roger Uttley of England Rugby fame being Head Boy and I can recall many of the pupils and staff featured in your archive especially those in the 1966 photograph.
After four years at Highfurlong, I worked for another four years teaching Economics to Hotel
and Catering students at Courtfield. Since 1975, we have lived at Chester. After retiring from
teaching in 1990, we are involved in tourism in Chester and North Wales. I'm too old to referee
rugby but I still umpire cricket in the Cheshire County League. During my travels I came across
2 old B.G.S. students: - Andy Page who was involved in industrial training and Andy Coburn who
was an estate agent in Southport.
Best wishes
