The Meliora Website is delighted and thrilled to announce that the recent Treasure Hunt initiatives resulted in a donation of £310 being made to ChildLine. For details of the delightful letter of thanks from the charity and who won the prizes see Treasure Hunt Results . The website is very grateful to Blackpool Pleasure Beach, The Sandcastle and The West Coast Rock Café for their generous prize donations.
Members of the website may be interested to learn that the donation which reached the magic £300 figure was made during one of the prefects first ever Pilate class at a Blackpool Health Club.
The future of the website – is guaranteed to December 2005 and future funding of the website can be raised by a partnership that has been set up by the website Prefects. If any website members purchase goods or services from :- Tesco.com (excluding food shopping), Amazon.com, CD-WOW.com or Ticketmaster the website will receive a small commission. The latest venture into making the website a little more interactive starts here!. The Prefects are interested to know your favourite websites – modesty reluctantly prevents the Meliora website being submitted – but if you could send the address of your favourite site together with a few words of what makes it such the list will appear on the website soon. Address link at the foot of this page!
Please note that new software means that all e-mails sent from Meliora are individual and not to all members of your year group. If any member has a message they wish to be circulated to a year group please forward to the Prefects who will forward it to your desired recipients.
Once again the list of failing e-mail addresses continues to grow and the Prefects are faced with the daunting task of removing 150+ addresses from the webpages and the two e-mail circulation listings.
Those members who were at Collegiate during the 1970-80’s may be delighted to learn that the pop star group The Human League are touring the UK this November / December.
Tour dates have been published and concert dates can be found on the
Fan website (www.thehumanleague.co.uk) . Anyone wishing to book tickets can do so via the link on the forthcoming concert page on this site. There is a Concert in Preston in mid December which should prove very popular. Interested persons should let the prefects know as a coach may be arranged if demand is shown.
The website has been asked to try and trace Glen Connell a 1966 starter and member of the BGS Rugby during his time at the school. Any leads please e-mail the website prefect.
Finally a request made to one of the Meliora Prefects whilst shopping in Sainsbury’s by a 1971 starter. Please could all members inform anyone they meet about the websites existence ! With access to the internet now in the majority of homes there must be a lot of potential members about. The Prefects regularly submit the website to search engines such as GOOGLE and YAHOO . One method of attracting members is to compile year lists – as if a person is named on Meliora as a former pupil there is much more chance that they will stumble across the website. To see this in action type your name and Blackpool into GOOGLE and see if you appear in the results – you should!
