MELIORA FUNDING
The funding for the website will run out in just over 9 months. With the co-operation with the present School it is hoped to hold a fund raising event around May Day Weekend 2002 (4/5 May). Further details will be announced as arrangements are made but your support will be crucial for this event. It is hoped to hold four mini 15 minute lessons from teachers (Masters & Mistresses) who should be remembered by almost all members of the website young and old! Any suggestions ideas etc are welcome.

SCHOOL ARCHIVE
The prize of £1,500 was handed over to the Headteacher Keith Clark in early July. Hardest efforts failed to gain any local publicity even though one of the local papers sent a photographer!. I have been promised publicity on Blackpool’s Local Radio Station ‘The Wave’ but am holding this back until after the school holidays. Mr Clark has earmarked the money for the development of the School Archive and mini- museum. I was accompanied at the hand over ceremony by Cathy Rumley a 1972 starter, Mr Clark showed some of the material currently on display in the Memorial Room. I have recently been sent a collection of material from the estate of Eric Pearson a 1921 starter. Most of the material will be found a home in the school archive. Should anyone have any items which are felt to be possible archive items please write and send me details.

Keith CLARK
Keith Clark retired from his post as Head Teacher at the end of Term. The website is grateful for all the support and encouragement he has given over the past two years.

SPARTICUS
I was invited to the opening of SPARTICUS (Sport and Recreation Together at Collegiates Universal Sportshall) on July 16th and was again accompanied by Cathy. We took the opportunity to inspect parts of the main school which were relatively unchanged from the 1970’s and photographs will appear in due course. The new sportshall is quite magnificent and the website was able to provide items from Eric Pearson’s collection for the display cabinet at the entrance. These included hi swimming certificate from 1926, his school cap for Rugby 1925-6-7, his Cricket Blazer Badge and various Photographs of early sports teams.

FAILED E-MAILS
Sadly over 15 e-mails have had to be removed from the website due to them no longer being valid. Please let me know if you are changing your address.

MELIORA BENEFITS
Earlier this year members of the website were offered discounts on Stretch Limousine hire by members of the website. If anyone else would like to offer discounts or special terms on any service to those listed on the website please let me know and I will add details to the website pages.

YEAR WEB PAGES
Whilst I leave each year to develop pages as they choose there is a benefit to year pupil lists. These lists serve to jog memories of people forgotton but instantly remembered when the name is seen. I have sought the year lists from the county archive but most items deposited cannot be accessed until 50 years have passed. Please e-mail me with lists of names for your year and I will place them on the website. From small acorns......

PERSONAL PAGES
In an effort to stop people harvesting e-mail addresses from the website I am going to try to introduce personal pages. This will have the double benefit of giving a little more information about you and your former classmates. If anyone wishes to be amongst the first in the queue e-mail me requesting details.
