| message contents: | Still reeling from my exhilarating reunion with Dave Hopkinson and Mick Forshaw a few weeks back, I went to the Kite Club at the Station Hotel in Talbot Road last night with my brother Tony (1965) to see the Groundhogs. By happy coincidence, old mate Tony Brown (1965) was also there together with other '65 starters Steve Warren and Pete Morgan. What a good gig! Groundhogs were in their original line-up of Tony McPhee, Pete Cruickshank and Ken Pustelnik who we hadn't seen together since they played the Mecca in Central Drive in 1972. They delivered all the old favourites with gusto - enough to make your blood run 'Cherry Red'! Afterwards, we had a good old chinwag with Tony Brown, who still proudly sports the flowing locks, and he told us he was still in contact with Steve Wheatley (1965) who now lives in Birmingham. We have made arrangements to keep in touch and hope to meet up again next year at The Hamsters gig. Needless to say, I was out a little longer than I had anticipated and was greeted by the strangely reversed situation of my daughters waiting up for me to get home! Best wishes to all. |
