People are amazed that I can still recite the class register - how sad is that? It would be great to get in contact with some of the old boys from the "x-stream", and the girls and boys from sixth form (we were the first entrants into the new merged sixth form college in 1971). I am still married to Ann Robinson (we met at sixth form), and currently live in Harrogate with our daughter Helen 13. Judging by the success of the website, it must be true that school days are the best years of your life....! |

| message contents: ; | We had a great time at our last reunion and I'm looking forward to the next on 5 May. I want to arrange a "This is Your Life" for my sister Ellen (was Ellen McGuire) who started at Collegiate Girls aged 11 in 1963, for her 50th birthday. If you knew Ellen pls get in touch with me. Her birthday will be 26 Feb 2002 in the Preston, Lancashire area (celebration date to be arranged). So, if you can help - either with photo/story or attending on the night pls get in touch. Ellen is a lovely person - unchanged through the years. She is married to John and has two children - Andrew (17) and Rachael (14). She is invited to a reception at Buckingham Palace in March hosted by The Queen and Prince Philip. Ellen is (surprise, surprise) a personnel director and cares deeply for the staff and her company. Pls get in touch if you can or if you know anyone who was in Ellen's year - Brenda Hamilton, Sheila Fothergill, Margaret Baines, Edith Currie, Lesley Strickson, Margaret Mackay, Ann Kozuberda (not speeled correctly I'm sure! are some names I remember.... there are obviously lots more. I look forward to hearing from you. Catherine Bass (nee McGuire) |

I brought a couple of scooters to school, both an LI150 and a superb race tuned SX200, rebuilt by Colin Cardwell (anyone know where he ended up?). On the subject of the hair inspections, I remember being particularly incensed by these. So much in fact that I sent an anonymous letter to the Gazette complaining about them - it was printed and described as 'disappointing' in assembly the next day - now, I think it's safe to own up! By the way, I think SMS stood for Sixth Form Mocking Society (i.e. as in Mr Quinlan). Ah...it all seems like yesterday! |

| message contents: ; | Hello to all 1966 starters. Preparations for a 66 reunion have begun( well, Mick Foulkes and I had a natter down the pub) so keep those e-mail addresses coming in to the web site. Also if you have any contact information for those not listed on the 66 page, please send it to me or Mick Foulkes so that we can inform as many as possible, once a date and venue has been agreed. Whilst at the aforementioned pub, who should be on the next table but Roger Bates (65 starter) whose claim to fame was setting the cloakroom on fire when attempting to put out a fag. Roger’s dad, Harry, is still teaching people to swim 40 years after he taught me. |

I am still in regular contact with Geoff Baehren, Andy Cross and Tony Welch.I have some old photos of myself, Andy and Norman Burrows,if you can bear the sight of naked knees. I have Geoff and Andys e-mail addresses as well. Looking at all the big hair on view in the old photos reminded me of Mr Rigbys after assembley hair inspections...and who whitewashed the Sixth Form centre windows with SMS? |

| message contents: ; | OK, so I got it wrong first time. Great to look at this site even though I lost contact with almost everyone when I left BGS in 1968 at 16yrs. From the list I can just about remember Ian Thornley but can do better with Paul Ardern, Pete Bass, Alan (Tich) Richardson and John Waller. Pete Bass I last saw in the bar at Blackpool RUFC. I can also remember many others and without going on too long there's Brian Slater, Robert Hargreaves, John Trotter, Mike Jenner, Peter Briggs and Terence Barkess. There were loads more who sadly, I don't recall. I'm just about to finish in the Lancashire Police on completing 30 years. Also in the 'Job' is Chris Fuller who is still in the Blackpool area. I have passed details of the site on to my brother Keith who was a couple of years ahead of me and am in fairly regular contact with Brian Bonney through our rugby club, Vale of Lune. I suppose it's a sad reflection of our times that I am unable to contribute any female names from Collegiate at the time! |

| message contents: ; | I joined in 1966 but in second year (which in theory would make me a 65 starter) in 2a. The first classmates I knew were Chris Green and Tony Nickson (Nicky). I also remember Kevin Green. I played rugby with Mick Wright, Neil Stephenson (Fritz) and Clive Benson (Benny). In the later years my best friend was Pete Trend, who I believe still lives in Blackpool. Teachers I remember were Jack Quarmby in PE and sports, Angela Johnson in English, Mr Large (Ben?) in French, Mr Pointer in German, Rigby, the junior head who also did history. Mr Williams in French, the inimitable DQ. From Collegiate, I have a couple of names. I knew of Tony Nickson's sister who was the year above us. I think her name was Linda. My friend from that year (64 starters) was Susan Grime. The two closest friends I had from 65 starters were Heather Oldham and Sharon Latham. The last time I saw Heather was at Leeds University round about 1974. I think she was doing a degree in religious studies. Sharon I think was a nurse in Blackpool around 1976 or later. They both lived in Bispham. It would be good to hear from anybody who knows them or indeed from anybody around the same era. |
