1972 Pupils a poem By Mrs Reid for those who were in 5N

it is been great to know you
You're different I own
From a number of classes
I've taught, fought and known
Two years, how they've flown
And never been dull
Though often on Fridays
I've longed for a lull.

Annette - caught canuddling by Miss Burns (Annette Andrews)
Lindsey - angel and pest, she takes it by turns, (Lindsey McNamee)
Joan - not a wrong word can I say (Joan Power)
The highest tribute I can pay.
Elizabeth, in a huff, carting her flute (or something) (Elizabeth Povall)
Making a grand instance in a bit of a toot.
Maxine always good - except for the shirt (Maxine Lord)
But no-one's feelings would she ever hurt.
Donna, the thespian whose talents we saw, (Donna Snape)
I'm sorryshe won't be here to do more.
Susan, the redhead whose work is superb (Susan Partington)
And doesn't say much until she was heard
Shouting at me about her friends.
Debbie, the swallow on wings of mirth (Debbie Swallow)
She's seldom, if ever, lost for a word.
Debra - who sat with that boy at Macbeth (Debra Clark)
What a surprise! I thought she was good.
Julie and Tracy - Miss Forbes say they chatter, (Julie Quarmby, Tracy Fairburn)
I'm inclined to agree, they don't half natter.
Susan and Christine - always so good,
But those unexplained absenses! Tho' they never would skive,
of that I'm quite sure as their records so good indicate
that they're pure,
Along with Karen who looks so demure.
Christine's the seamstress, with needle and thread
And one thing is sure, her man will be fed.
Darryl whose tastes are rather macabre
She wants to disect us, don't show alarm
That's done with the girls.
Now for the boys - my brains I must rack
Let's start with the goodies, I'm afraid there's a lack.
But no, there's Ian who sits at the back (Ian Kirk)
Takes everything in and is sure to go far
And Chris whose proved a dab hand with the books
And Philip, the one with those looks (Philip Bonell)
The juniors say remind them of Starsky
And follow him around with eyes all sparkly.
There's Clive - never a wrong word has he said (Clive Mattock)
His powers at games is a matter of pride
And Spenny who sits quietly there by his side (Spencer Fitzgibbon)
Whose quiet asides have given me joy.
On the back row, there's Ivor, the boy (Ivor Evans)
At things scientific is an absolute whizz.
Steven and Peter, that terrible pair
Would have shamed Ali and Bugner - no, that's not fair
- To remember one happening, when really they're saints.
As for Stephen and Christopher too
Their trains and timetables have driven me potty
The nicest thing that can happen to you
Is to be stuck on the platform, all night, at Crewe.
(I'm only joking - you'll both go far)
David's innocent looks don't fool me at all (David Burrows)
I know he'd rather be kicking a ball.
And Richard who didn't believe a word
When I told him of Lady Macbeth's downfall.
Andrew came late to join our band
He's one who never gets out of hand.
John's driven me frantic - he's always late
He'll keep Peter waiting at the pearly gate.
I've left till the last, the terrible two. (Russell & Simon Coupe)
One would be drastic - but both of them - phew!
But all is forgiven - they've turned out trumps
And please don't remember all of my humps.

That's completed my roll call
Good Luck to you all
I'll miss you next year
You've become quite dear
So keep in touch
It needn't be much
Just the odd word every now and again.
