Mecca (Tiffanys) Monday Night Teenage Disco 1971 Before the Collegiate and BGS were merged in September 1971 several 1968 starters used to attend the Teen Beat Disco on Central Drive. Derek Taylor emigrated before the schools merged but wrote in with memories of the Monday Night Discos.:-
I recognize names and faces on the lists and in the pictures, I would imagine that as I was there for only two years before emigrating the only ones who remember me are those I went to Hawes Side with (Karen Radcliffe (Kimpston), Susan Wood (Whitehead)) and the irony there is that my family emigrated just before the Collegiate and BGS merged so I actually didn't go the the merged school with them.

I did have a friend who I stayed in touch with for quite a while after moving to Africa, and I don't see him on any lists, and I was wondering if you had heard anything of him: Steven Bamber I believe was his name.

It is certainly interesting to see the photos and realise that even after all these decades folk are still recognisable, and to realise that some of the women I remember seeing as girls down at the Mecca on Central Drive on Monday(?) evening when they ran a disco for us adolescents. I wonder if anyone else remembers that?
