Blackpool Collegiate School for Girls
I attended the above from 1959 until 1964 , at Beech Avenue, Blackpool and the Old Grammar School Church Street, Blackpool (temporary for 2yrs). The reason we were placed at The Boys Grammar,Church Street was that Palatine Grammar School,Bennett Avenue changed to become a secondary modern school but children who had passed their 11+ were transfered to existing grammar schools hence our numbers increased quite considerably. The boys, unfortunately had moved to Highfurlong leaving the Church Street premises vacant and so for, I think it was 2years we shared the Church St building with Blackpool Technical College students, which made us feel very grown up. We had great times in the main hall at Beech Avenue at lunch break, we were allowed to listen to records and all the school seemed to pack in to the hall - it being the 60's and all that great music around!!
I was very disappointed not to find any friends on the website but I suppose it was a long time ago, however I will keep checking.
