It seemed like every other girl in my year was called Jennifer, so that led to several nicknames to distinguish them. All the Jennifers seemed to have a streak of madness. Jennifer Woodward broke her arm, falling off a desk, and when the cast came off, broke it again demonstrating how she had done it the first time.
There were several Carol’s as well. I have sent a list to Martin of several whom I remember.
Does anyone remember the Dunera cruise of 1963 (I think)? A converted troop ship from the Second World War, and reveille was the Beatles single "Please Please Me." 600 girls and 60 boys. 540 wallflowers.
I would love to get back in touch with Jean Blinkhorn and Carol Williams, with whom I arrived from Claremont Juniors. I met Carol at a reunion, where she reminded me that all her photographs of that time were of me. That was because her family were wealthier than mine, and she had a camera. Carol, I lost your telephone number, please get in touch.
At that same reunion I also met up with Jennifers Mathison and Taylor, and it seemed to me like I was suddenly 15 again. The appalling puns and ready wit are what I remember most. That and some very dedicated teachers who did not deserve the hard times we gave them.
I would especially like to contact (Eileen) Pat Smith, so that I can give her a good slap. She was instrumental in my meeting my husband of 35 years!
Anyone out there?
Norah
