The Squadron has enjoyed varied activities during the past year. After our summer camp at Hawarden, the winter term was mainly devoted to proficiency training, although we did have one weekend of flying at Squires Gate airport. We also spent an active evening helping the Parents' Association Christmas Fayre.
During the year we welcomed Pilot Officer J.A. Jackson who joins the permanent staff of the Squadron.

I remember Pilot Officer Jackson, And the Sports at Arnold School I think in Poulton. I think I won the long jump. I also remember both camps, and the flying at Squire's Gate. We went up in a very old Dakota with no seat cushios and it was very bumpy, I know we were all a bit worried because during the flight bits of canvas were blowing of the wings, not as dangerous as it seemed to us. I seem to remember going to an Athletics meeting in Wolverhampton either '54 or'56. The train was delayed and we only just arrived in time for our events. In those days RAF trucks always met you wherever and whenever, even if there was only one person. We were always well looked after and the regular servicemen were always friendly Quite unusual now I look back on it.
