Rugby and Cricket : M. A. Lambert, D. S. Drake and Denning have played both games in School teams
.
Swimming: J, B. Clarke represented Lancashire at Bournemouth in the English Schools Diving Championships. F. E. Smith is the fastest free-style swimmer in the School.
Athletics : In the A.T.C. Wing Sports, Thompson won the Long jump, and was second in the 880 Yards.
Soccer: D Taylor has become famous as the youngest Association Football referee in the country.
Miscellaneous : Only two boys have so far reached the required number of detentions to visit the Headmaster. M. J. Furness has recently joined us, and we hope he has now settled down.
(Metaphorically speaking. See opposite.)
DEBIT
Scholastic: K. W. Goodwin and N. M. Rossall did so well at the Christmas examination that they were promoted. (This is put on the debit side, as they were formerlv able to answer most of the questioins and are sadly missed.)
Miscillianeous : We shall be sorry to lose L. J. Pickles, who will by now have emigrated to Hamilton, in Canada. We send him our best wishes,
Act of God (latest news) : We learn that F. R. Gardiner and Furness managed to fill into Stanley Park lake. Foul play cannot he ruled out. The Form detective, I. Wrav, has to solve the absorbing and perhaps ticklish problem:
"Did they fall, or were they pushed ?"
