This photograph kindly supplied by Don Bowtell, 1939 starter and Head Boy
1945-46, who sits immediately to the left (as we look at them) of the short
row of women teachers, viz. (in succession) Mrs F.H.Drummond, Miss R.Cubitt,
Mrs E.E. Curnow, Mrs M.H.Hayes, Miss H.T. Perkins and Miss E.A.Fox. As a
tease, what in this year 1945-46 was that sweetie Ruth Cubitt's last Form,
what French pastoral song ever began Mrs Hayes' introduction of her uncouth
First Formers to French, what name was Miss Perkins universally known by
(and why), and what Form drove Miss Fox to collapse hopelessly in tears with
'Oh, --, why are you so cruel to me !'".
